150 and Counting

Last week was a busy week for games!

Race for the Galaxy twice, Wasabi, Starship Catan, Ghost Stories, Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride:Eu, Chicago Express, and then on game night wednesday, Order of the Stick. IN 5 hours monday, We played 5 games. In 5 hours on game night...we played ONE. Yes thats right ONE measly game. Order of the stick is a long adventure came. A comical one. But fun. We chose the "short" version that said approx 2 hours... All of a sudden it was almost 11 pm and we were just finishing! The time flew by, and everyone was still into the game having fun, so thats what counts I guess. It could have been worse too...Chris and Anna left after about an hour. Otherwise we would have had the complete 6 players, and it probably would have taken another 2 hours to finish!! sheesh.

In non-game related news, I think we have the renting problems sorted out.
I found soemone to move into the house, and someone I know, so thats good. And we got 2 calls yesterday for the suite. One from a lady that sounded all cracked out, and one from a nicer sounding guy. When the "crack lady" came to look, it turns out she wasnt a crack lady at all. Just partly deaf! She also is the mother of a friend...(well more like an acquiantance...somone you say hi to if you see them..) so thats good. It would be for her BF who needs a place when he is home from work or something...a bonus with him, is that the rent would be paid by social services. So we know we would always get the rent money. But we said we would show it to the other guy tonight, just to be fair. So if all goes well, by tonight, we should have the suite rented to one of the 2 peoples. Woot. (wow, loot!)

132 and Counting

I decided to turn this blog into not only a normal blog to blog about stuff, but a blog to detail every game night! like last night for example!
there was me, TW, RS, KE. We started the night off with a game of Wasabi! (after everyone had eaten food). Me, and KE were able to grab, and hold on to the stack cards for the entire game. they are pretty key to getting a good score, methinks. The game ended, KE with 29 points, me with 28. TW had about 21, and RS had an abysmal 15.

Next up was Die Kutschfahrt zur Teufelsburg...or: The Coachride to Devils Castle.
it's an interesting card game where each player is secretly the member of one of the 2 associations. Throughout the game (while you are all inside the coach, travelling up the mountain pass, to devils castle) you must try and figure out who is on your side, and who isnt. There are occupation cards and object cards (travelling luggage) that can help. There are also 3 goblets, and 3 keys mixed in there. Once you think that all 3 objects of your association are in the possession of your team, you can declare victory. Everyone reveals their association and luggage. If you were correct and you have them all, you win! if you were wrong...well then the other side wins...it was quite enjoyable, though only with 4 players. it can play up to 10, and i think with 6 or more, the game will really shine.

Last game of the night was Hermagor. RS had already gone home. early night for her. so it was just 3 players. Hermagor is a mideival trading game. I kept not being able to purchase the goods i really wanted from the market, so I thought I was destined to come in last place. When we counted monies (points) at the end, i was thrilled to see that TW only had 67! I had 97. and the winner, with 121, KE!!!

Next week, I am hoping to try Chicago Express among others.

I must say.... So far it has been a crappy start to the new year.
my car gets sucked in by the snow, into the ditch, like 10 seconds from my house. Later that day I get a subpeona to appear in court. then the tenant is moving out of our attached suite. then a room mate gave his 30 days notice. Leaving...a massive mortgage payment to be paid between 2 people. The suite is in the paper now, so hopefully someone rents that soon.
My resolutions were:
- to have a "good year" in any way that can be percieved.
-to eat healthier
-not be so lazy and get more exercise.
-go to disney land!!! (better get my passport)

I dont know why I bothered. Im sure I will forget about them next month.

We had a 2 hour new years sale at work. it was very busy. for the first hour and 15 minutes I didnt move from behind the counter. Just kept writing up invoices. I guess that shows that people still do want to shop for furniture...they just want it dirt cheap. so that we dont make any money. and then have to close. thanks cheapskates!! Some stupid guy came in to look at a table his wife saw the day before. She exclaimed that "$1299 wasnt a bad price at all"
he comes in and says the table was $1000.
no..it wasnt sir. its $1299.
well, he wants it cheaper. when will I have another sale?
I offer it to him for $100 less. and he says no. I want it for $1000 including taxes. thats like $895.
he says he will wait until it comes on sale for that much.
ok...well have fun waiting FOREVER douchebag.
for the record, its the nice rectangle table with the 6 leather chairs.
the chairs alone are like $200 each you freak. go buy a table from IKEA.

Im addicted to boardgames. I just cant stop buying and wanting to play them. I thought I was done after christmas....but I wasnt...already have like 10 more on order. Im crazy. I have no more room to store them. the 2 closets are stuffed full. I need a whole entire bedroom devoted to just shelves for games.
I wish I could play at least one game every night. One roommate who was glad to play games whenever i asked, is moving to alberta. in fact, me, and he and his GF had many nights where we played 3 or 4 games!!

I also want a new cell phone. My old one is now about 15 months old. and it isnt very functional. Its intended to be massively used for music, which i never use it for. EVER. plus the buttons are cracking. stupid sony. I dont know what i want to replace it tho. i want to get out of rogers though. There cell service is the worst of all 3 providers in town. but im stuck for another 21 months in my contract. So if i get a new phone I will be buying it outright, but thats too expensive. like $400+
so no new phone for me.
some guy is supposed to be coming and looking at our house to see if he is gonna move in. Apparently Im the only one that doesnt know who he is. EVERYone else knows him. Maybe he likes boardgames! :D or maybe he doesnt and will be too busy saving lives. he is a paramedic.

January 4th i was in van for a hockey game. vancouver and dallas and it was great fun. Especially because Dallas won in a shootout. I told myself i woudlnt be mad if dallas lost, and I would just have fun and enjoy the game no matter what. But i was swearing and being pissed off 10 minutes into the first period, after dallas was down 2-0!!! I just cant enjoy a hockey game unless my team is winning...
there is another game on march 17th...i want to go to that one too...but unfortunately getting time off is so freakin hard, and that one is in the middle of the week. grrr. I miss having employees
